Rebel Rebel

Inspired by the boyish charms of James Dean and Sal Mineo, my team took Henry and Jordan from AMCK Models on a trip through 1950s teen rebellion for my photographs.

Backstage in Augusta Studios

February has been a pretty busy month. Aside from the fashion work I'm working on an exciting new exhibition project with Rene August. Expect to see our joint project in a gallery space soon. I'm not gonna give away too much about the theme just yet... but its gonna be amazing!!!

Rough Seas

My portrait of Ian James. A pirate ship tattoo is meant to reflect a life journey. The fact that they traveled through rough sea's (times), struggled along the way, but they have made it in life. The ship tattoo is also meant to signify a free spirit. I wonder if this is true in Ian's case.

BOY

Created in 1977 by Stephane Raynor, Boy London is an iconic British institution. Often copied, it remains the leader of the most influential trends. From punks to club kids and fashionistas. Everybody wore Boy. From Andy Warhol to Boy George, from the Pet Shop Boys to Madonna.

The Town of 1770, Australia.

While I've been quiet of late on the fashion front my travel photography has received a boost thanks to the year I have spent trekking the continents. This photograph was taken on the east coast of Australia in The Town of 1770. It gained its name after James Cook landed there in the year... you guessed it. This image was taken just after sunset. The sun had just dipped out of view creating this dramatic sky which seemed to be mirrored by the waves on the shore. It was breathtaking to watch and I hope I've done it some justice.

Words of Wisdom from Duane Michals
"My advice to somebody starting out: do not try to be an artist. Forget about art; don't even use the word in your vocabulary. What you have to find out is if you have anything to say - you have to find that bug up your bum. You have to find that thing that moves you, that part of your psyche that needs to be scratched, like an itch."
Duane Michals is one of my favourite photographers. This quote was taken from 'Photo-wisdom' by Lewis Blackwell (published in Australia by Hachette).

Bangkok, February 2010.
While Bangkok offers many photographic opportunities I took this photograph in the guest house that could have come straight from the Alex Garland novel 'The Beach'. The guest house room seemed to have more in common with a cell but the late afternoon light offered great atmosphere. This is a portrait of Mark, my traveling companion for those weeks.
